History of the Department
The Department of Physical Education started functioning way back in 1875. The Department has produced several sports personalities who have proved their mettle at both the state and national levels.A few of them are Olympian O Chandrashekhar ( Football), Olympian Dinesh Naik (Hockey), Anandapadmanabhan K N , Jayaram K and Balachandran C (cricketers who captained the Kerala Cricket Team). The Department has been instrumental in organizing national and state levels athletic meets and games .Many of the students are members of the University and State teams. The department was headed by Sri. Jacob Varkey (1969-1988); Smt. N.Sulekha (1988-2000); Sri. P.R.Madhusudhanan Nair (2000-2001) and Dr. N.Mohan. The department is presently headed by Sri. P.T. Sellen.
